Description

One of China’s famous teas, Heavenly Blue Peak (Tian Mu Qing Ding) was long the favored tea of emperors. An exceptional spring green, this high-mountain varietal is harvested only for a very brief period in early April. Grown in bamboo forest preserves of Tian Mu Mountains, in Zhejiang Province, this varietal was once thought to have been lost and fell out of production for a time.  Literally translated as “Blue Green Summit”, our high-grade Qing Ding lot offers the tea lover an opportunity to enjoy a wonderfully aromatic and flavorful tea.

The taste is nuanced and naturally sweet and will linger with a soft mouth feel.  Heavenly Blue is harvested a bit later than most high-grade green teas. Fired in wicker baskets, the tea is slowly heated accentuating and preserving its sweet notes. It will brew to a clear, light-yellow liquor.

  1. Michael

    Nose: Hay, light sweetness
    Taste: Smooth hay and honey
    Finish: Lingering honey and hay

Verdict? Smooth honey and hay imbue every sip and is a delightful way to start a relaxing morning. Subsequent steepings quickly diminish the honey flavor and becomes more grassy, but still smooth and flavorful.
